It's summer, the kids are out of school and, no doubt, spending far too much time indoors and in front of a screen instead of romping in the sunshine.

Clearly, they need some motivation; here are two new methods of motion that should get them moving.

It's not surprising that the Space Scooter was designed in Holland since the Dutch ride more than they drive.

"As we launch the Space Scooter here in the U.S., it is our goal to help inspire a whole generation to put down their electronics and discover a new way to move and have fun outside," said Marielle De Silva De Freitas, global marketing manager, Space Scooter.

The hybrid scooter is propelled forward by pushing the curved board with both feet in a teeter-totter motion. In other words: pump and go. It takes you there much faster than a traditional kick scooter (which it also converts into), and you easily can keep up with friends on bikes.

Space Scooter is completely foldable in just a few quick steps, making it easy to carry, stash and take with you anywhere.

The rugged scooter comes equipped with a hand break and air suspension. Colors for the X580 series include black, white, orange, pink and blue.

Recommended for kids 8 years and up, Space Scooter holds riders weighing up to 200 pounds. They're priced at $149.99 and available at most major toy stores, including Toys"R"Us. You can check out videos and also order Space Scooter online here.
